I was commissioned for this set late least year and thought I’d give them their own post.
I will start with my personal favorite, the “hero” card- featuring Shadow the Hedgehog and Maria Robotnik. The idea for this one was Dark Knight Shadow being heroic and helping his friend fend off Religious Zealot Temple Knights. Maria is a scarily accurate skywatch. Is it magic, or is she just that good?
This one is a little less exciting storywise but one of my favorite pieces from last year. Amy Rose suits the “Wizard”; FFXIV astrologian goes quite well with her tarot cards and mystic personality.
When given the prompt “treasure” Rouge came to mind right away. The background has it’s own story going on- Shadow stabbing down on a golden iguana while Sonic is about to get eaten! Tails is to the side with vunlerabilty stacks, showing he stood in an avoidable attack. Blaze is so over it… and Rouge is about to run into trouble with a mimic.
This is another one where the prompt wrote itself, for “food”. I wanted to reference some Sonadow in this series somewhere, and this was my victim. I used my own experience in the game heavily here. The fish Big the Cat is catching is very, very, VERY hard to get. it could be it’s own blog post.
Last but not least is the “bird” prompt, which I wanted to do a lot of references for. The bird with the flicky is a chocobo called Alpha and the “mount” they are in is a model that appeared a lot in his questline. The background is inspired by “Ulitma Thule” or “The End of the Universe”.
