My friend Mandy and I have put together an incentive for people to donate to the Defending Our Neighbors Fund! The Fund aims to raise and deploy 30 million dollars to organizations that provide legal representation and, when possible, bond assistance to immigrants facing detention and deportation. It also has come to my attention that the donation minimum is 10USD so donating to ACLU is also subject to receiving the sticker, which has a 5USD minimum!

A little about the sticker! The art was done by me sometime last year as a redraw challenge on bsky. I added the text later on. The background was taken at a protest I attended in May of last year. The sun was setting over the fields and the line of National Guard members looked so damning against the receding light.

The idea sprouted when we noticed SEGA stayed silent as the WH used their likeliness to spread hate. Other companies stood up and said they weren’t affiliated, but SEGA stayed silent. They made sure to step in and denounce an Instagram account posting AI art of Sonic to promote this weekend’s fanart exhibition in LA, but didn’t take the time to step in and say they did not authorize the WH’s usage.
It sucks. I understand that SEGA is partnered with certain companies and want to keep that up. They didn’t even have to say anything political, just “we didn’t authorize that” but staying silent is just a bad look.
I want the people in this community to feel supported, even if that sadly can’t be from SEGA themselves. I care! So many of us care. Actions will always speak louder than words. Together we can make a difference.
I could go on and on… but I’ll leave it at that. maybe I’ll add more to this later.
